FLOOR CARE

 Top 5 Floor care Tips

  • Manage Temperatures. Avoid significant changes in temperatures in your home. Use your HVAC system to keep things between 60º and 80º.

  • Humidity. While we’re talking temperatures, we might as well dive into humidity. Wood flooring will perform best when your home's humidity is between 35% and 55%.

  • Mats. Mats. More Mats. To help with tracking in mud, ice, and salt, put mats inside and outside all entry doors. The less you track in, the less there is to clean up.

  • Clean Up. You’ll want to clean up any tracked-in muck with the cleaning solution recommended for your finish as soon as possible. When in doubt, use a lightly (and we mean very lightly) damp cloth to wipe up messes.

  • Prep Your Floors. Cleaning and maintaining your floors in the Summer can help get you through the winter. Keeping an eye out for cracks or odd spots in your finish (and having them repaired) ensures your floors are ready for the increased moisture of the fall and winter.

Improper cleaning of floors is one of the most common issues we see. Something as simple as using the wrong cleaner for your finish can take years off of the life of your hardwoods.
